Solheim Lodge hopes you will join them in exploring your Nordic heritage!
LODGE HIGHLIGHTS

Solheim is a very active lodge with a long heritage. It has operated for almost a century and it is the oldest entact Daughters of Norway lodge formed in former mining and ranching communities in Montana. Throughout its history the lodge has played an active role in the Grand Lodge having provided a continuous stream of officers and conventions throughout the 20th century.
Every year the lodge bands together to make and sell lefse and Nordic Christmas cookies (krumkaker, sanbakkels, rosettes, etc.) at the local mall. This sale has excellent community support. They also help make the lefse for the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church's annual lutefisk dinner.

LODGE'S NAME
Being one of the oldest lodges in the organization, the lodge's name was chosen from Nordic mythology and heavenly, or geographical inspirations. Solheim, translates roughly, as Home of the Sun (sun home). The Sun in Nordic mythology was a female who along with her brother, the Moon, rode on a chariot of gold through the skies. Part of the Nordic creation theory had these two fair children (Sun and Moon) off on paths across the sky traveling at great speeds because they were chased on hungry wolves. In some stories, they are driven round the heavens in chariots drawn by very swift horses. More on the Norse mythology of the Sól . . .
- 1 Lodge meetings vary during the year, especially the summer months. It is advisable to contact the lodge for their exact schedule.
